Breagha's Story Book Quilt

Finished Breagha's 10th quilt this morning. I think she is going to just love this one! No store bought blankets for this child, only quilts made by her grandma.

Did not back it in flannel, backed it in muslin instead. Can't wait to get it packed up and shipped to Scotland. I must apologize for the photos but I have been blogging from my Iphone.  For some reason, I have been unable to upload photos from my digital camera folders to this blog.  And for some reason, the crisp and clear photos from my phone do not come through to the blog very well.

Precuts

Ever since I started buying precuts, I love them ALOT. Went out today to purchase a particular quilt book, was unable to find it, but discovered this one on the rack. Now for a lazy afternoon of reading and dreaming.

Breagha's Story Book Quilt

I had charm packs of Little Rascals, Lil Apples, Sherbet Pips, A Walk in the Woods plus charm packs from Connecting Threads in About Town, my Little Farm, Parlour Pets, Love my Honey and Just Desserts. Took them all and cut them down to 4 inch squares and did a basic 9 patch block.

Made a total of 25 blocks with lots of interesting characters in them. Even managed to salvage enough from the Elmo fabric to make a block of Sesame Street characters.

Michelle will be able to develop all kinds of story lines with this quilt, thus it's called Breagha's Storybook Quilt.

Here are the blocks:

Hello UPS

Look what UPS delivered to my door this afternoon.

I ordered this from Amazon when it went on sale but I've been wanting it forever! I just love everything MODA and especially their fabric designers.

Free Motion Quilting

Yesterday I made my first attempt at machine quilting. I've been busy buying books on it, watching videos and gathering all the necessary equipment including two different attachments for my sewing machine. The first attachment was wrong and broke almost immediately. The second was perfect!

Anyhow, this was the end result at my first attempt and I think Breagha will be getting a quilt for her doll!
